LMNO peas by Keith Baker

Peas can be anything and so can you.

The theme to this book is told in cute drawings and simple words that go along with the alphabet. A book for 2 or three at a time. The pictures are busy ones and might drive a class full of children crazy trying to see the little parts that make up so much of the story. But, sitting with one or two children, it would be a great afternoon quiet time story that could have your child still looking at the pictures while you are catching a little nap :-).

Children Make Terrible Pets by Peter Brown

The title of the book alone made me think that this book had great promise. And inside there were some very witty pages that would appeal to young and young at heart. (I liked the potty training part. And the last page was cute.)

But the story was lacking warmth. It came across as words and pictures on paper. Not anything to mull over after the story was read.

Bats at the Ballgame by Brian Lies

This is a story about bats that play baseball. And being bats they can only play at night. Of course there is a real baseball field, fans and snacks. A requirement for any game.
I absolutely love this book. The pictures are wonderfully drawn. The story kept all 15 of my preschoolers engaged. Magical reading for children and adults.
So I chose it as my gift to a Head Start child through the Giving Tree at the local library. Hope that he enjoys it.
